Barry Weaver began his teaching career at Jay County High School in the first year of its opening in 1975. He would go on to serve students as a physical education teacher and swim coach for 40 years. He was not only a respected swim coach, he was also an outstanding teacher who understood education is ultimately about students.
He was, and remains, a role model to his students and athletes. He treated every student with dignity and respect. Coach Weaver built a successful swimming program out of mutual respect. His leadership has perpetuated among those in Jay County by creating outstanding coaches, teachers, business leaders, mothers, fathers, and workers. This extends places far beyond our great community, in many other states and countries.
Barry Weaver’s contributions and personal devotion to public education brings great credit to himself, our community, and the Jay School Corporation.
