If your family could use a little extra help, the Jay County Food Access Calendar is here for you. The calendar lists the days and locations where food assistance is available across the county. There are no income requirements, no ID needed, and you do not have to live in the town where the distribution takes place. Everyone is welcome.
If you have any questions, you may call the Jay County Health Department, 260-726-8080.

Our East Jay 6th graders had a fun and memorable day at the 60th Annual Tri-State Antique Gas Engine & Tractor Show. With an interactive worksheet in hand, they divided into small groups and set out on a scavenger hunt—finding vendors or exhibitors from five different states, tracking down the 2025 feature tractor and engine, and getting a real feel for the history and pride behind our world-famous community event.

Join us this Friday for a tailgate before the 🏈Jay County Patriots 🏈take on the Blackford Bruins!
Bring the whole family—there will be live music, food, and games. Don’t miss the fun!

📣 East Jay Elementary 3rd Grade Parents!
Our third graders had an egg-citing end to the year! 🥚🐣 We incubated and hatched chicks while learning all about the life cycle of a chicken. Students tracked data, monitored temperature and humidity, and even kept a “chick diary” pretending to be the chick inside the egg! 🐥
After 21 days of learning and anticipation, we welcomed some adorable new additions to our classroom! 💛
Be sure to ask your student all about it — and enjoy a well-deserved, fun-filled summer! ☀️🎉

To our East Jay 6th graders—congratulations on completing this chapter! As you move on to 7th grade at the Jr. High, we’re proud of all you’ve accomplished and excited for what lies ahead. Keep working hard, and believe in yourselves. Wishing you all the best—your Principals, Teachers & Staff at East Jay.

We are so proud of our 5th grade students for making a big impact through their Care and Share Project. With support from The Portland Foundation, each of the six classes received $100 to donate to a philanthropic organization of their choice. Our students chose to join forces and donate all $600 to the Jay County Cancer Society.
To grow their impact, the students organized one of their favorite fundraisers (and quickly becoming a tradition!)—raffle tickets for a chance to “Pie” a staff member in celebration of completing ILEARN testing. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of our school community, they raised an additional $762.
Together, our 5th graders donated an incredible total of $1,362 to support cancer patients in Jay County. We are so proud of their kindness, teamwork, and commitment to giving back!

ATTENTION JAY COUNTY FAMILIES:
Thank you for making us your only stop for summer meals! We love serving our community and we want to ensure all families wishing to receive meals can do so. Meals are available for children and youth in your household 18 years old and younger. While the opportunity might exist to get more than your household’s allotted share of meals, federal regulations limit free meals to two meals per day per eligible participant. This helps us ensure that there are enough meals to go around to all children. Thank you for your cooperation.
USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender.

A big thank you to the Mandy Theurer Memorial Foundation for their generous donation of hygiene bags for our 6th grade students!
These “Mandy Bags” are given in memory of Mandy, a Jay County native whose legacy lives on through acts of kindness. We’re grateful for this support that helps promote health and well-being in our schools. 💙

Students in Mrs. Bruns' 3rd grade class worked together in groups to create a Quadrilateral City. Together with their teams, they had to plan their city using only quadrilaterals for the buildings. Afterwards, they had to write and present a speech to the class on why their design should be chosen. They showed great teamwork and creativity.
