If your family could use a little extra help, the Jay County Food Access Calendar is here for you. The calendar lists the days and locations where food assistance is available across the county. There are no income requirements, no ID needed, and you do not have to live in the town where the distribution takes place. Everyone is welcome.
If you have any questions, you may call the Jay County Health Department, 260-726-8080.

Our East Jay 6th graders had a fun and memorable day at the 60th Annual Tri-State Antique Gas Engine & Tractor Show. With an interactive worksheet in hand, they divided into small groups and set out on a scavenger hunt—finding vendors or exhibitors from five different states, tracking down the 2025 feature tractor and engine, and getting a real feel for the history and pride behind our world-famous community event.

📣 East Jay Elementary 3rd Grade Parents!
Our third graders had an egg-citing end to the year! 🥚🐣 We incubated and hatched chicks while learning all about the life cycle of a chicken. Students tracked data, monitored temperature and humidity, and even kept a “chick diary” pretending to be the chick inside the egg! 🐥
After 21 days of learning and anticipation, we welcomed some adorable new additions to our classroom! 💛
Be sure to ask your student all about it — and enjoy a well-deserved, fun-filled summer! ☀️🎉

We are so proud of our 5th grade students for making a big impact through their Care and Share Project. With support from The Portland Foundation, each of the six classes received $100 to donate to a philanthropic organization of their choice. Our students chose to join forces and donate all $600 to the Jay County Cancer Society.
To grow their impact, the students organized one of their favorite fundraisers (and quickly becoming a tradition!)—raffle tickets for a chance to “Pie” a staff member in celebration of completing ILEARN testing. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of our school community, they raised an additional $762.
Together, our 5th graders donated an incredible total of $1,362 to support cancer patients in Jay County. We are so proud of their kindness, teamwork, and commitment to giving back!
