Pi Day, celebrated on March 14th (3/14), honors the mathematical constant π (pi), which represents the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It's a day to celebrate math and its impact on our world. To observe Pi Day, Mrs. Moeller's 6th grade math students competed to memorize the most digits of Pi. The top winners of the grade were Jermy Rodriguez with 75 digits, Karson Schilling with 61 digits, and Brenna Weitzel with 46 digits. They each get a mini apple pie. Second and third place got oatmeal cream pies.

Miss Heyne's 5th grade science classes have been super busy this winter. Students teamed up to craft their own solar system models, complete with all 8 planets, the asteroid belt, and more! They collaborated to choose colors and materials that accurately represent each celestial body, considering their sizes and order in the solar system. Then came the ooey gooey fun! Classes recently dove into the mesmerizing world of Oobleck! This non-Newtonian fluid defies expectations, behaving like both a solid and a liquid depending on how it's handled. 💧✨ Students made predictions, shared observations, and explored the fascinating properties of solids and liquids together. 🧪📚

Week of Feb. 12-16 United Way Dress-Up Days Help raise money for Jay County United Way! Your child will be bringing home a Tootsie Roll piggy bank the week before Valentine’s Day. Take your tootsie roll container home and fill it with bills or loose coins, such as pennies, dimes, or quarters. We encourage students to do errands and chores around the house to earn money for their container. We will have dress up days to remind us of our United Way drive. Our school is setting a $1000 goal. The students will earn an incentive if we reach our goal. We will collect the money each day!!
