Jay Schools are on a 2 hour delay, Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Dear WJE Families,
Tomorrow, August 24th, 2023, the weather forecast is calling for a heat index of 105 degrees. To help keep all Eagles safe and healthy we will be taking the steps:
1. Having gym and recess inside.
2. Monitoring student water intake and taking extra water breaks throughout the day.
3. Students may keep water bottles at their desks.
I would also encourage each family to send a bottle of water to school with their child for easier access when they need a drink.
Thank you for your time and consideration as we work to keep all WJE safe!
Sincerely,
Mr. D

Dear WJE Families: we are keeping the walkers back due to the fact that it is raining pretty hard. We are understanding that this rain may not let up anytime soon so please try, if at all possible, to make arrangements for your child to be picked up here at school. Please be sure to call the school if a ride is coming to pick your child up. Thank you as we work to keep all students safe and dry!!
Dear West Jay Eagle Kindergarten Families,
We are ready to soar EAGLES!!
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Because we understand that the first day of kindergarten is a very important first step in a child’s educational journey, we are delaying the start of the first day of school for kindergarteners to 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2023. We feel the delay will help the transition of both students and parents. We understand that some children may be riding the bus to school that morning and arrive at the normal start of school and that is perfectly fine.
Here is more specific information about the kindergarten delay on Thursday:
Parking: Parents may park their cars in the west lot and enter with their child at door #1. From this point both students and parents may proceed to the kindergarten classroom. While in the classroom the parent(s) may help their child with situating their backpack and supplies. Once these steps are completed, we ask parents to say their goodbyes and exit the room.
Kindergarten Bus Students:
Just another reminder that all Kindergarten students must have an adult present at their bus drop off location until Friday, Aug. 18, 2023. This will ensure that the student familiarizes the drop off routine. If there is no adult present, the student will be dropped back off at the school of attendance.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to call us here at West Jay Elementary at (765) 768-7648.
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeff Davis, Principal
West Jay Elementary

Field Day shenanigans!! The WJE had a great field day today! Students were able to run, jump, and get a little wet! A special thanks goes out to the Dunkirk Fire Department for making our day extra special!!!

Dear WJE Families,
After careful monitoring of the weather forecast for Friday, May 12th, the decision has been made to postpone WJE Field Day until Tuesday, May 16th (our rain date). We believe that this potential rain would cause unsafe conditions for students to participate in the field day events. The forecast for Tuesday, May 16th is much better as no rain is forecasted for that day.
Because of this change, we ask that any parent volunteers that are unable to help on Tuesday, May 16th to please call the WJE school office to let us know (765) 768-7648.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that we have a fun and SAFE field day at WJE on Tuesday, May 16th.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeff Davis
